CATERING
Wedding on September 25 ('Wedding of the Year' - Vogue)
Miriam and Andrew dropped in to clarify what they were seeking wrt their
wedding @ the colignan hall - they would really like to support us by
getting us to do the catering. Looking at feeding people from early afternoon
to evening - from 80 to 120 people (others can make up shortfall) - vegetarian/vegan
finger food. They can hire a coolroom for us, there is a kitchen in the
hall, we could prep food beforehand and quick quick quick brainstorming
delivered things like bruschetta, pastry roll-ups, pizza, etc + a vegan
cake.
We need to get back to them by early July and are meeting re this (see
below).
Catering in General
Prelude = feedback from catering / food stall on Saturday night June
5:
We had a vegan hot food stall at the Freeza/Herd all ages show. Lots of
volunteers which is great - preparing Friday and Saturday then cooking/serving
Saturday night. There weren't loads of people at the concert though...
and we had a great time and took $128.35 = $80 dollars after costs (pls
see for a review!)
Discussion ensued re "Is it worth it?". Some of us think it
is (we had a lot of fun and usually the fundraising rewards are greater
eg Int Womyns Day) and some of us think its not (if we were a business
we'd be going under?) so we've decided to have a special meeting to discuss
the Whole Catering Thing on Monday June 21 @ 5pm @ the co-op. Everyone
welcome!!!
Yoga Retreat
We've been asked to cater for a retreat on June 26 but unfortunately
no-one is able to take it on. Gary to let them know.
WINTER SOLSTICE
Catch-up on where we're at with The Longest Night on June 19.
Flyers look great - almost everyone comments.
We have two fantastic bands - Do'itashimushita pronounced Doo Itashi Mushta
and Down the Hatch.
Andrew is sorting sound system and lighting.
Wine - Win and Melissa offering to provide for mulled wine.
Vanessa organising piniata (sorry - i can't spell this!)
Looking for wood and braziers(?) for fire.
Gary has tarp if it rains to drape over pergola.
Slightly smallish cleanup needed.
Suggestion of Budget.
(Apology for getting DIM spelling wrong)
E v e r y o n e p l e a s e s p r e a d t h e w o r d !!
THE ScOOP
The sCoop is out - yay thanks Vanessa!
(Apology for wrong phone no. which is now fixed)
Suggestion that next edition could include info other than 'shop stuff'
- eg other stuff that we've been lately such as 'pay the rent'.
Reminder that contributions to the sCoop are very welcome - Shimu to make
a sign for the shop encouraging this.
PAY THE RENT
We started paying the rent to the local Aboriginal community last Monday.
Vanessa and Gary were there to give the Latje Latje Dancers a cheque for
$490 (since the concept was decided on last year) and we have direct deposit
details for our $10 per week payment. In terms of spreading the word,
an article appeared in the sunny daily and 'twas on ABC radio too.
THANKYOUS
A big thankyou to the Bernard-Melissa team for purchasing and installing
our new security light at the rear of the shop. Oh and the perfect pergola
at the rear of the shop is finished - glorious thankyous to Roger, Andrew
and Russell.
Meeting Ended @ 7:42ish
