Issues arising from the last meeting

MEMBERSHIP DISCOUNTS

Last meeting we decided to float the idea of dropping the membership discount to all members and to revisit this issue at this meeting. Gary reported back that he hasn't gotten around to letting the main membership know of this possibility, oops.

Melissa & Shimu stressed the need to resolve this tonight as we're in limbo and we're turning people away from being members.

Discussion ensued and we decided that (a compromise):
We will honour all existing memberships (that provide 5% discount off every shop) until they expire.
New members (or members that renew) will receive a 5% discount off one shop per month.
Volunteers will receive a 5% discount off one shop per month (and a further 5% if they're members).

So... this is a compromise - and its a similar system to that used by Alfalfa House, a food co-op in Sydney.

Vanessa offered to design/organise new membership cards. Gary/Shimu to modify existing blank cards as 'temporary membership cards' in the interim.

Shimu/Gary to make a sign to display in the co-op about membership and (new) benefits thereof.

FLYERS

Vanessa wanting feedback on existing (old) flyers for design of new flyers - ie what is good, what is not so good; what should stay, what should go; what else should be included?

Gary to circulate existing flyers to those in attendance for input. Please email info@au.fcoop.org if you'd also like to provide comments.

PUBLIC LIABILITY

Win has chased up where we stand with Public Liability cover for volunteers. Has spoken to Jane Brook at the Vol Resource Centre, and it seems to be a hazy-ish area. Our policy specifically mentions Volunteers in the Public Liability section but it does not specify (weekly) compensation to a volunteer if they're injured and lose income through not being able to work at their other work. We seem comfortable with this (its not exactly a dangerous place) as long as volunteers are informed about this. Anyone who has strong feelings about this pls let us know.

Because we don't offer compo, the Vol Resource Centre cannot formally refer vols to us, although it can provide information about us. Gary mentioned that we have a new volunteer through MADEC - Fiona!

The Committee Meeting then sort of merged into the monthly 'shop' meeting @ around 6:42pm.
